Pulling ENKA’s Pipes

Six PE 100 pipes, each 500 m long, 1.4 m in diameter, 55 mm wall thickness and weighing 110 tonnes, manufactured in one piece by FIRAT Plastik in Turkey, each 500 m long, 1.4 m in diameter, 55 mm wall thickness and weighing 110 tonnes, were towed from Istanbul to Libya by the tugboat Pehlivan-2 to be used for sea water withdrawal and drinking water distribution in ENKA İnşaat’s ongoing sea water treatment plant in Libya.
The towing work with a convoy with a length of 605 m and a width of 10 m was carried out by Aras for the first time in Turkey and successfully delivered to Libya in a safe manner. During the transit, the Dardanelles was closed to maritime traffic and three tugboats accompanied Pehlivan-2 for safety purposes.
